Hi, great to see you here on my About Me page. This must mean you want to know more about me then…. 🙂
OK, first off I am just a regular guy who lives in Kingston Upon Hull in East Riding of Yorkshire, UK. For those of you from outside of the UK (and even some of you in the UK) I want to say Hull is a fantastic place to live with great history and people. Also luckily for me it has a thriving technology start-up scene, in particular a fantastic place call C4Di that is right on the marina in the old town.
But who am I? – My name is Neil Curtis and I was born in Northumberland (about 160 miles north of where I live today), I did a degree at Bradford University (West Yorkshire) in Medical Engineering and then a PhD in Southampton (Hampshire – South Coast) in Bioengineering. I then spent 9 years working as a Post-doctoral researcher at Hull University (hence why I live here now). Fascinating I know, but ultimately there came a point where I knew this was not for me. I had a passion for being creative and I also had a passion for (trying) to make money off the internet. This started in my teens but it is something I have been dabbling with ever since.
Before my Job at the University of Hull and also in my spare time during my job I tried many things online from selling on eBay, to turn-key eCommerce websites, to online trading, and finally (thank god) I found out about creating sustainable and solid websites that I could then grow to generate an income. Ultimately after working and learning in my spare time while working full time I finally took the leap of faith and gave up my job (huge decision for me by the way), started my own company, and started to earn my living full time from online projects. This was a scary thing for me to do, after all I had a great job that I had committed 17 years of my life too (university study + 9 years working), but for me I had a passion that I needed to follow.
Some early online experiments.
About 8 or 9 years ago I started selling canvas paintings on eBay that I did myself (see a nice example here that is on the wall in my home). I then looked at making a website to sell from, but this ultimately ended in failure because I had no clue what I was doing. Also I realised I would need to paint a lot of canvases to earn even a little money so it was not a viable long-term job for me.
This got me into websites though and the process of setting one up taught me a lot. I am a great advocate of just giving things a go, it really is the best way to learn. I also started to think more about business and started reading a lot about how to grow websites and businesses in general and all of the different online things you could do to earn money. This got me thinking about potential projects to work on that I could start and grow over time. First of all though I needed to learn how to really make a good website and how to use the websites I created to generate money.
I started off with Google Adsense, which is how I made my first pennies online (not counting my eBay ventures – which went beyond just canvas painting by the way but that’s a story for another day). I then shifted into affiliate marketing where you promote other peoples products and take a commission on things that sell (watch my free video training to learn all about this). This lead to learning and implementing other ways to make money such as products I actually created and sold, lead generation, membership websites, software experiments and more.
I know own around 6 or 7 smaller websites (sometimes referred to as niche websites) that are a mix of Google Adsense, affiliate, membership, and lead generation websites, as well as a larger personal blog (NeilCurtis.me) where I chat about how to make websites and have lots of tutorials. It is this personal blog that really hit home with me and made me realise what I really loved doing. That is teaching people how to do things, and more specifically teaching people how to do things online.
Where I am at today.
I constantly blab to people about what I do and how I think they should start their own websites doing all sorts of things. Of course most people are not interested (especially my wife), but there are some who are really interested. These are the people I want to talk to and teach how to do it themselves.
Earn1000.co.uk was born – Combining my passion for making money online, building websites, and teaching people I came up with Earn1000.co.uk. £1000/year (if you are in the UK like me) or even $1000 (if you are in the US) or an equivalent amount of money in whatever country you are from (the internet is global so you can earn money online anywhere) is a good amount of money. That is enough money to do something significant with, whether you go on a nice holiday, buy something you want, or just put it away in a rainy day pot. So, I have setup Earn1000.co.uk to show and motivate you to start on the path to earning £1000/year (every year) online.
I have one relatively small affiliate website that earns over £1000/year (see this site in my free videos here), and this is a website anyone could have made if they just had a little bit of knowledge and knew where to start. So I setup Earn1000.co.uk to show people how.
The Earn1000 Community.
I spend a lot of time creating a 5-part video training series that you can watch for free, but while this lets me teach I felt there was more I could do. So this lead me to create the Earn1000 Members Only Community where I could personally communicate, motivate, and help anyone who is serious about earning money online. This community is a mix of members profiles, community forums & groups, guides & articles, discussions, advice, and it is a place where you can start and grow your own website with the goal of earning money off it.
The Earn1000 Community is for anyone who really wants to make money online just like I do. It takes what I show you in the free video training and adds to it. It shows you the paths you can take, how to start on these paths, and answers any questions or concerns you have. This includes how to make a website, how to know what to write about, how to make money from your website, how to attract visitors to your website and much more. I’m always up-to-date with the latest news in the area so when I learn something new I’ll let you know about it in a mix of articles, guides and tutorials.
I really want you to join the Earn1000 Community because this is my passion. I want to help you start your website and then earn money off it. Whether this is something you want to do in your spare time, around your kids if you are a stay at home parent, around your job if you work full time, or even if this is something you want to do full time, just like me. We all need to start somewhere and I think the Earn1000 Community is the best place to do this.
The Earn1000 Community is only for people that are truly serious about this and it is a premium Community and thus costs money. Unfortunately when you get things for free a lot of people simply are not committed or motivated enough to fully follow it through. Being invested (financially) in something focuses the mind and drives you forward. Also the Community is for people who are actually taking action and for people who want to talk about what they are doing, interact in the forums, and want help and advice from myself and other like-minded (paying) Community members.
If you are not ready to join the Earn1000 community yet not problem at all. Watch the videos and you can get started yourself in your own time.
If you want to learn more about the Earn1000 Community click here, I have a short video where I explain more.
Good luck and I really hope you succeed in whatever venture you start on.
