After you have a base of ten product pages on your website you can start to add articles that will form the basis of your content marketing. Or more simply these articles will start to get found in Google searches and attract web visitors to your website
NOTE: This is not an instant process, it may take several weeks before you start to see any visitors to your website. However over time the number of visitors will increase and you will start making Amazon commissions. Be patient…
What articles should you write?
These first five articles are simply the start of a foundation on which your website will grow. These are core articles that have one goal, and that is to attract visitors from Google. So these articles are focused around things people search for regularly and are of course also related to your products.
Review, Top 5, Best, Guide
It will depend on your product range but if you can create an article titled “[your product range] review”, “Best [your product range] 2015”, “Best [your product range] under [price]”, “Best high-end [your product range]”. You can add the year at the end of these titles is applicable.
So for example if your chosen Amazon product range is cat scratchers your five base articles could be:
“Cat scratchers review 2015”, “Best cat scratchers 2015”, “Top 3 cat scratchers”, “Best cat scratchers under £50”, “Best cheap cat scratchers”, “Top 5 cat scratchers under £100” etc.
You get the idea. These are not the most elegant and news worthy articles you will ever write but they have a real purpose. They are addressing questions that people are actually searching Google and other search engines for. These are the kinds of articles that will get your website indexed in search engines and they will start to show up in search results and bring visitors in to your website.
How long should these articles be? – They need to be at least 500 words long. If you can write more the better.
How to structure your article
This is not essential, but having a good header image sets your article off well.
Each article should have a short introduction about the product range and be related to the title of the article. This can be around 100 or 200 words long and be a paragraph or two. Don’t make this introduction too long because readers want to see the images and products you are going to talk about and may flick off your site if there is too much text at the start.
Most articles like this will discuss the products you added to your website in Step 4. So you will select the ones to talk about in the articles you write. If you are doing a top 3 under £100 article then choose the best 3 products under £100 and showcase them in the article.
You should include a product image or two, and also a short description of around 100 or 200 words. Do not just copy what you have in your product page, instead we word it to sound original. The images and and title for each product you mention should link to the individual product pages. Also include an obvious link at the end of each product you chat about.
Finish the article with a short summary, where you should mention the products again and link through to the product pages. This summary only needs to be around 100 words.
