This is an update of commissions and visitor numbers to the Amazon affiliate website that I setup during the Earn1000 Course, which was about gas BBQs.
June 2016 was officially the wettest June in the UK since records began, and as you’d expect this impacted on people searching for gas BBQs.
According to the Google keyword research tool the searches for BBQs is expected to peak in June, so I was confident the gas BBQ website that I created as part of the Earn1000 Course would at least reach the same commissions as the previous month. So I hoped to earn £1000+.
However, this did not happen. The total commissions for June 2016 were £634.14, which was £454.95 less than in May 2016. Total sales through the BBQ website were down by 90 units compared to May. While a little disappointing the fact that this website has made £634.14 in a single month is still a great achievement, and lets hope for a warm and sunny July 🙂
Looking at Google Analytics to assess website visitor numbers we also see (perhaps predictably) that average daily visits were down in June compared to May. In May we averaged 314 visits per day, while in June this was down to 197 visits. This is 63% of the value in May. However, nearly 200 visits per day on this BBQ website is still a great number, and it works out that each visit is worth approximately 11p. This is exactly the same as in May, so it really is a matter of trying to get as many people as possible onto the website because more people equal more overall commissions.
Commissions so far.
The BBQ website was officially complete (as per the Earn1000 Course) on the 4th February 2016, however the domain name and web hosting were purchased on the 2nd March 2015 and the first article was published on the 10th March 2015. So this website was beginning to get indexed by Google around this date, and perhaps more importantly it started the Google (new website) sandbox countdown.
In total the BBQ website setup during the Earn1000 Course has made £2252.99. This is a fantastic return on what is a relatively simple website and a website that is just the starting block for what can be something a lot bigger. I am yet to fully decide on the end direction of this website but for now I have put on some more keyword researched content and I will add more again later so that the website is in good shape for the summer months next year.
The plot below shows earnings from this website since the domain name was first registered in March 2015.
I hope your website is coming along well.
